Enjoy a day trip through the dramatic mountain scenery of Sweden and Norway to the town of Narvik. Lunch included. (October - March)

Take a day trip into the mountains and beyond into Norway and the beautiful fjord city of Narvik on-board one of our comfortable vehicles. Heading off along the shore of scenic Lake Torneträsk – the sixth largest and second deepest lake in Sweden – the tour slowly follows the famous Navvy Trail, giving a chance to see beautiful mountain vistas, frozen waterfalls and stunning Arctic valleys before stopping at the border to enjoy the magnificent views and to take photos.

The beach is the next stop where you will have the opportunity to take in the spectacular vistas across the open water flanked by massive mountains on either side. Finally you will arrive in Narvik where you will enjoy a complimentary Norwegian fish lunch (please let us know of any allergies. Vegetarian meal can be selected as an Extra in the next booking step at no extra cost).

Arctic Reindeer Sledding

Take a day trip to the beautiful Sámi village of Rávttas and experience a glimpse of the traditional lifestyle of the reindeer people and enjoy an hour-long sleigh ride through unspoiled nature. (January - March)

Imagine yourself sitting comfortably in a traditional wooden sleigh being pulled slowly but steadily by a majestic reindeer through a peaceful Arctic landscape - hearing only the dampened sound of reindeer hoofs crunching in the soft snow below. This exciting adventure is a sure-fire way to get a true taste of how the reindeer herders transported themselves and their belongings during the winter months for the last several centuries.

Our exciting tour starts from your selected pickup point in Abisko or Björkliden and is then followed by a 45 minute ride to the Sámi village of Rávttas. During your time in our modern bus it is not uncommon to see beautiful wildlife along the route including reindeer, moose, Arctic hare, red foxes and birds of prey.

Upon arrival in Rávttas you will be taken to the corral where your guide, an experienced Sami reindeer herder, will help you collect your soon-to-be companion on this great adventure. After meeting your new friend, you will receive instruction on how to harness your reindeer and most importantly, how to steer the sleigh once on your way!

During the exciting hour-long sleigh ride you will have an opportunity to guide your reindeer through mesmerizing old-growth forest and across frozen moorland with the impressive Kiruna mountains rising as an unforgettable back drop that is sure to create memories that last a lifetime. Up to 2 people will be traveling in each sleigh - both with the opportunity to steer as you take turns holding the reins. Different reindeer have different caracteristics and for the more adventurous there will normally be an opportunity to choose a stronger reindeer to pull their sled for a more lively (although shorter) ride.

As you return to the camp you will be invited inside one of our warm and cosy traditional Sámi lavvus (teepee) where you will be served a freshly prepared, delicious meal around an open fire. This is also the time to ask your Sami guide questions about reindeer herding and their unique way of life in the Arctic.

Kiruna - Dogsledding in the Arctic

Experience the Swedish Arctic behind a team of dogs taking you through the landscapes of Lapland. Join us today on this fantastic experience!

Experience the Swedish Arctic behind a team of dogs taking you through the enchanting landscapes of Lapland. After picking you up at your selected hotel in Abisko or Björkliden our driver will take you to the kennel in Karhuniemi, which is located in Kiruna. The transfer to/from the kennel takes approximately 1.5 - 2 hours from Abisko/Björkliden. Upon arrival you will be provided with warm clothing for the tour. Next up it's time to meet the stars, our super friendly and playful Alaskan huskies who will give you a proper warm welcome. Our puppies are masters at making everyone feel at home!

If you like, you are more than welcome to help us harnessing the dogs. Once the huskies are ready to go, all you need to do is to sit back, relax and enjoy this amazing and silent ride through the Arctic wilderness. Our trail starts out through snow covered pine and birch forests, crossing over frozen lakes and then continues north towards the Rautas river valley. The tour covers a total distance of about 16 km. When we are half way along the trail we will stop for a warm cup of coffee or tea with home-baked cake in our typical Sami tent, heated by a sparkling fire. Parts of the tour offer beautiful views of the Kiruna mountains and on clear days it is possible to see the peaks of Sweden's tallest mountain, Kebnekaise.

Silence is our king in the Arctic, but make sure to ask any questions that come to mind - our guides will be more than happy to answer them all. During the tour you will have plenty of opportunities to take photos and to enjoy playtime with our dogs.

Included in the tour is a return transfer from your hotel in Abisko/Björkliden to the kennel, warm clothing, coffee/tea and a snack. The duration of the dog sledding tour is 2 - 2.5 hours.
